Biography

Dr Whitaker received her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology (minor: Molecular Biology & Biochemistry) from Simon Fraser University in 2003. She completed her PhD in Cellular and Physiological Sciences at the University of British Columbia (Vancouver campus) under the supervision of Dr Eric Accili. During that time, she also completed a year-long course in teaching and learning. Dr Whitaker then began her teaching career back at Simon Fraser University in the department of Biomedical Physiology & Kinesiology. Since moving to Kelowna, she has been teaching as a sessional instructor in the School of Health and Exercise Sciences (2017-2020) and now as a lecturer. As an educator, Dr Whitaker is passionate about engaging students in their learning in innovative and supportive ways.
